GREEN ZONE

Dominion Riverrock Is Officially A 'Green' Event

The Green Zone at Dominion Riverrock aims to educate festival attendees on how they can act to minimize their collective impact on the environment. The Green Zone showcases environmentally friendly products, practices, services and ideas. Festival sponsors and non-profit organizations will educate and engage the athletes and spectators, inviting them to take action toward a more sustainable future. The “greening” of Riverrock is paramount given the festival’s clear focus on the river and the James River Park System.

Dominion Green Power has purchased renewable energy certificates (RECs) on behalf of Dominion Riverrock to help green this event

Dominion Riverrock Green Team

The Green Team is a group of "environmental ambassadors" whose main focus during the event will be recycling. These key volunteers will be stationed at all recycling stations and roaming the event grounds making sure waste is disposed of properly. If you would like to volunteer to be part of the Green Team, click here.

James River Cleanup

The James River Association will be leading a group of volunteers on a shoreline cleanup of the James River on Sunday, May 19 from 3:00-5:00 pm. This event is open to festival attendees of all ages. Please wear sturdy shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We will meet at the vehicle access bridge to Brown's Island and disperse from there. Trash bags, grabbers, and gloves will be provided. This is your chance to give back to the James River that provides such an awesome venue for Dominion Riverrock! Pre-registration is recommended. Sign-up now!

Recycle Old & Muddy Shoes!

Consider donating your muddy sneakers to Soles for the City! Soles for the City is a youth-based project within The Giving Heart, providing an opportunity to donate new and gently used athletic, work, and casual shoes to benefit those in need. Shoes are distributed through clothing distributions and during the Giving Heart Community Thanksgiving Feast. Your donations help in providing healthy lifestyles (athletic shoes) and work-related needs (work shoes/boots and casual shoes) to those in the Greater Richmond Metropolitan Area. The Giving Heart is a Richmond area nonprofit that provides food, fellowship and essential items to those in need. Programs include the Community Thanksgiving Feast, Giving Bags and the Community Clothes Closet. Soles for the City will have shoe drop-off bins located near the wash off area. For more information, visit www.thegivingheart.org.

Ride Your Bike To Dominion Riverrock!

Dominion Riverrock encourages you to ride your bike to the festival. It's easier on the environment, and you won't have to worry about parking! Bike racks will be available onsite and there is also a FREE Bike Valet service.

Healthy, Organic Food Options

A conscious effort has been made to select healthier, organic food options in 2011. Come hungry, leave healthy!
